In the series “Das Geheimnis der Meister”, a team of five experts consisting of art historians, restorers, painters and artists go in search of clues: they reconstruct important works of German painting (Paul Klee, Caspar David Friedrich, Angelika Kaufmann, Max Liebermann, Paula Modersohn-Becker). In this search for traces of the original colors, brushstroke, lighting mood and color scheme – in short: the expression of the famous painting – you get to know the work in a completely new way. And in the end, the original and the copy hang side by side. Following the great success of the format in the Netherlands, 5 episodes are now being produced for 3sat in Germany. Broadcast in 2024.
